Ohio Conference – November

Just under the gun here!  It’s 11:41pm on Sunday, leaving me with 19 minutes to post before my week-end deadline!

These are from the conference I went to in Cincinnati last November.  Again, tons of fun!  It was a crazy weekend, and I was exhausted by the end of it, but it was well worth it.

Trying out a different light set-up.  It has a couple hotspots, but I love the little guy’s expression!  While I enjoy studio work, it isn’t really my style, but it was fun to play around a bit.

I hope my baby is this cute!  These are twins, brother and sister.  So sweet!

And grows up to be this cute!  She was a doll to work with!

Or this cute, if it is a boy.

Don’t let brides play in the middle of the street with chairs that you pull out of the garbage.  They are scary.

This kitty totally hijacked my shot, but that’s ok, it was cute!

These are my friends from 831 Photography in Akron.  When I first met them last year at WPPI, they were holding up their little name badges, with letters covered partially to spell out my name.  When I got to the Ohio conference (very, very late due to a flight cancellation), I was greeted the same way!  I almost cried!

Excuse the quality, this was a total snapshot! 🙂

Meet Me In St. Louis, Louis!

Better late than never!  This is from the photographer meetup I went to at the end of October in St. Louis.  It was a lot of fun!  We had some beautiful models to work with, and it is always fun shooting with other photographers and getting new ideas and tips.

Got kicked out of the hotel we were shooting this in! 🙂

And what do a bunch of photographers and models taking over downtown St. Louis look like?

Models and ‘Togs everywhere!

It was a great day!.

Cold Love!

I love couples that trust me, no matter what the circumstances.  For example, running around downtown Burlington in temps well below freezing, after just meeting, and me being terribly sick.  🙂

At the end of December, I met with two beautiful couples to shoot their engagement sessions.  It was so cold, and so snowy!  And dealing with super-bright sunlight bouncing off of pure white snow, it was an exposure challenge, but that’s alright with me.  Everyone knows I love a challenge!

So, without further ado, introducing my brave, winter couples!

Stacey & Jeremy

I love this one

And Dan & Laura.  Dan is from Africa and lives in California.  He went to college in Iowa, but hasn’t really “played” in snow.  He had his first snow-ball fight and made his first snow-angel!  Quite an experience, I don’t think he knew how cold and wet snow is! 🙂

Come on, Wendi!

So, I’ve gotten a little flack for not posting much lately.  It’s only been 3 weeks!  Truth be told, this time of year is a little slower, and with taking it easy due to baby, I haven’t had much to post about.  I have gotten all the images from the fall and my personal projects and workshops and conferences edited, so I’ll post those soon.  I also had a session with my darling twin nephews on my birthday that I’ll post, too.

I’m making it my goal to post once a week.  This is where I need help!  I’m going to take after Jessica Claire here on the Shootsac blog, and challenge you, my friends, family, and clients, to keep on me!  My timeline for posting in a week is Monday starting at 12:00am and ends Sunday at 11:59am.  If there is a week that I haven’t posted, the first person to bug me about it on Monday gets a little something!  Not sure what yet, it may be an extra print with your session for clients, or to borrow one of my fav lenses for a day for other ‘togs.  And if you are just family, well, I’ll give you an extra hug next time I see you.  I’ll figure out specifics soon!  Well, hopefully I don’t need to figure out specifics, if I post enough, right?

Are you up for the challenge?  I think I am! 🙂.

Be Safe!

It’s been a while since I posted.  I would love to say I’ve been busy, but, I haven’t.  🙂  I am taking a few weeks off from shooting, only fitting in a couple of my dedicated clients for sessions, and to finish up albums and slideshows for my wedding clients (that ordered late, silly people).

A few things, real fast, before I head to bed!

First, BE CAREFUL out there!  The roads are less than ideal, and the snow is brutal.  Be safe when driving, be safe when walking down the sidewalk, be careful when doing anything that involves braving the weather!  Keep warm, too!  Wow, I cannot wait until April!

Next, for all the late planners out there, I am no longer accepting wedding bookings for May, June, July, and August.  Why?  Well, I am not booked solid, like I would like to be (I live to stay busy!).  Nope.  Instead, I am going to be hobbling around, very hot and uncomfortable and pregnant!  Yup, that’s right!  As of tonight, I am 13 weeks along, and my husband is on cloud 9.  I have to use a megaphone to talk to him, he is so happy and so high up in the clouds right now.  That is another reason I am taking it easy right now, I have been suffering from never-ending morning sickness (or all-day sickness).

We had an ultrasound a few weeks ago, just to make sure there was only one little baby in there (my sister had twins last June, and they run in the family).  It didn’t really look like a baby, but it is!  We will likely have another in a few more weeks, and yes, we are finding out what it is.  My husband needs to know if he can buy blue or pink Dallas Cowboys jerseys, and I just need to know (I am too much of a planner to not know).  Anyway, here is the first ultrasound pic, courtesy of the tech at my OB’s office!

That’s it for now.  I am exhausted and need some sleep! 🙂.

Roxanne - Yeah – I just love seeing those images of what looks like a little bean! You now have your first photographic images of Baby Miller. Congrats (again)!

Tina Jean - Wendi, I have been reading your blogs on and off. (I am another wedding photographer, I am located in Chicago, but I travel to Iowa) Congratulations on the baby! I look forward to future posts about it and can’t wait to see photos of the baby!

StephanieP - Hey Wendi- Sorry to hear you are dealing with the morning sickness. Little kid already give you a hard time. 🙂 I can’t wait to come to the blog and see photos of the lil one.

Jenna Thomas - Congratulations Wendi!!! What wonderful news! I hope that the morning sickness passes soon!
