Laura & Ryan’s Engagement Session – Des Moines Art Center, Iowa

Laura & Ryan posed a unique situation for me! Shortly after they booked their wedding with us, Ryan moved to Australia for work, and after a few weeks, Laura joined them. They would be back for the week before the wedding, and that was it!  So, we did something that I’ve never done before.  We met the day before the wedding to shoot their engagement session!

It was an overcast day at the Des Moines Art Center, but the rain held off for us! We had such a wonderful time exploring the grounds!  While most of the roses in the rose garden hadn’t bloomed yet, it was still beautiful! Ryan and Laura are just so amazing and natural together, and they were so easy to photograph. At one point, Laura asked if I was getting any of them smiling, and I had to assure her I was – all they could do was smile!

Here are a few of my favorites. I had a hard time narrowing it down!

Also, I want to give a huge shout out and thank you to my friend and fellow photographer, Kim Fitzsimmons! Kim drove me all the way to Des Moines because the engine blew out in our SUV, and second shot all weekend with me. We had a great time at the Cheesecake Factory after the engagement session, and stayed up way too late each night talking!

Stay tuned for images from Laura & Ryan’s wedding!

Kaylee – Burlington Iowa Toddler & Family Photography

I first photographed Jeff and Lesley at their engagement session in early 2007, and then photographed their wedding that fall!  Check out this old blog post featuring their gorgeous barn wedding at Walnut Grove Farm in Knoxville, Illinois!

They now have a sweet little 2 year old daughter, and she is so adorable! We spent an hour running all over Crapo, checking out the geese, rolling around in the grass, and sniffing all of the flowers!

Lesley, Jeff, I had so much fun shooting this session, and know you are going to love your canvas gallery wrap for your home!

Mari & Darby – Ft Madison Iowa Family Photographer

Mari is our awesome office manager and graphic designer! If you’ve called the office, you’ve likely talked to her!  Darby is her beautiful sister, named after the Kentucky Derby because she was born on Derby day! I love it!

Devan photographed this session of the two of them recently in Ft Madison, Iowa at Rodeo Park.  Aren’t they beautiful?

Baby AJ – Keokuk Iowa Newborn Photography

Baby AJ is the chunkiest, sweetest little thing!  Her dark hair is fluffy, and her eyes are so bright! I had the honor of meeting her for the first time right after her birth, and can’t wait to see how she grows over the next year!

The nurses at Great River Medical Center in Burlington are so wonderful, and I love working with them on the birth sessions! I have several more births scheduled for this year, and look forward to seeing them all!

Newborn Baby Boy Photographer – Burlington Iowa

Lorelei first started coming to Wendi Riggens Photography when she was just three months old.  Now, she’s a big sister to little Kipton!

This session was photographed in their home. I love shooting in your environment! Everyone is a little more at ease, and the images really speak volumes about who you are.  Photographers, most of these images were photographed with my Canon 5D MkII and the EF 100 2.8 macro.
