The Tonal\u00e1 Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, a handful of us traveled to the marketplace in Tonal\u00e1.\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0\u00a0 It was amazing!\u00a0 From food to clothes, Christmas decor to glass blowers, candles and knick-knacks, jewelry &#8211; you name it, you can find it at Tonal\u00e1!\u00a0 I picked up a lot of little things for home, including the most unique metal photographer sculpture.\u00a0 We spent a couple hours walking around and still didn&#8217;t see everything there was to see.\u00a0 I had homemade helado de fresas (strawberry ice cream), pomegranate seeds, fresh meats and cheeses, and a yummy lunch at a local cafe.\u00a0 We conversed with the locals and bartered with the vendors.\u00a0 It has been a few years since I&#8217;ve had to speak the language on a daily basis, and I was amazed at how easily it came back to me!\u00a0 (in case you all didn&#8217;t know, I was a Spanish minor in college for a couple semesters before finding my real passion, and have studied the language since my mom first enrolled me in a class in the 5th grade).<\/p>\n<p>Going to the market.\u00a0 On the left, that is a house, sort of.\u00a0 Yes, someone was living there.\u00a0 In the middle, the line of cars waiting to get into the market.\u00a0 On the right, ruins.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"521\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3247\/2707622788_529908ae0a_o.jpg\" height=\"398\" \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few from the Tonal\u00e1 Market.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3224\/2707623028_a2ac9f6636_o.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"486\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3011\/2706805185_b5dfa19127_o.jpg\" height=\"352\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"484\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3010\/2706805425_e0b16b9365_o.jpg\" height=\"435\" style=\"width: 484px; height: 435px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yes, you have to pay to use the restrooms.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>On the way home, we stopped at this beautiful cemetary and walked around.\u00a0 The way they honor their dead is admirable.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"486\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3124\/2707758252_4847485afe_o.jpg\" height=\"327\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The following are a few from the different pueblos that we visited.\u00a0 The people were so friendly and welcoming, and I am especially thankful to the family that let me use their bathroom during our shoot.\u00a0 I drink a lot of water!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"487\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3160\/2706941901_16f29b13b8_o.jpg\" height=\"353\" style=\"width: 487px; height: 394px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the one on the bottom left, I asked the two men if I could &#8220;tomo un fotografia&#8221; of them, and they scowled and shook their heads no.\u00a0 I gave them a smile and asked &#8220;con mi?&#8221;
