Let Yourself Slobber!

I am a dog person. I love my cat and our fish and have had horses, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, ferrets, and other critters, but dogs are my thing. My grandparents and parents operated Federally and State recognized AKC professional dog kennels for over 70 combined years. I’ve been around dogs my entire life. I can still tell you the names of every single dog we had over the years (*ahem* BeeBee, Mindy, Rusty, Rusty #2, Sophie, Chipper, Bruford, Lizabell, Chocolate Cheesecake, Lacey, Jumper, Penny, Squirt, Nicki, Skyler, Salem). My dad even had a dream that on my first birthday, I turned into an English Bulldog!
It is because of this that my pet photography is so important to me. For so many people, their dogs and cats and other furry friends are so much more than just a pet. They are family. What better way to celebrate your amazing pooch than with a custom portrait session? My lifetime of experience with animals of all kinds, but especially dogs, gives me the patience and knowledge to shoot these sessions in a way that is stress-free for your pet. We don’t use cheesy props or backdrops or lights that make most animals tense up and run (or try to eat the lights). Instead we work in an environment that the animal is familiar with, and I take as much time as needed to play with the pooch or kitty (or other!) to bring out their true personality.
Wendi Riggens Photography has teamed up with the Des Moines County Humane Society and the Burlington Regional Dog Park to raise funds to support our local animal needs. When you book a pet session with us, 50% of your session fee and 25% of all print and product orders is donated to the organization of your choice. This is such a great way to get some amazing images of your pet, while helping others in need! We also set up at the annual PetPalooza to offer free mini-sessions and photograph the dog swim, so keep an eye out for future dates.
