*UPDATE – 1/3/13* WOW! When I blogged this post, I never expected it to be as popular as it is. It has been repinned several thousand times on Pinterest, and the traffic to our site has exploded. Thank you to everyone for the sweet and wonderful comments that you have left! I hope to update soon with links to some of the vendors that the outfits and props are from. Also, keep an eye out for Miss Maddie’s first birthday session in late March/early April. There were a couple of fairy tales that we didn’t get to do, and one in particular that is just perfect for her cake smash!

We have also had requests to feature these images on other blogs. We are absolutely open to this, so don’t hesitate to email info@wendiriggens.com.

Thanks again everyone! 🙂

*Original Post Below*

When Nicole said she wanted to do fairy tales for Miss Maddie’s 9 month session, I never imagined just how incredibly adorable and amazing the images would turn out! She spent weeks and weeks searching for the perfect pieces for the shoot, and we spent two hours the day before setting up sets and discussing strategy. At 9 months old, most babies don’t have an incredibly long attention span, and we knew we would have to work quickly to ensure that Maddie was happy and that we got the shots we wanted.

The day of the session went better than we ever could have planned. Maddie didn’t mind the non-stop clothing changes, and seemed entertained by all the sets! She especially loved the “big bad wolf” and soap bubbles! And then, at the very end, she fell asleep, giving us one last shot to wrap up this perfect session, a shot we hadn’t even planned on and threw together very last minute!

Without further ado, welcome to Miss Maddie’s Once Upon a Time!

Once Upon a Time… We included a few pieces from our fairy tales in this initial shot, to sort of tie it all together…

Snow White

Peter Pan & Wendy

Alice in Wonderland

Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf (or super sweet and cuddly husky that Maddie absolutely adored!)

And they lived happily ever after…

neo - What an adorable little princess. She looks so much like my baby. So adorable! It’s obvious that both mom and photographer took a lot of time, thought and patience into this shoot. Little babies are hard to wrangle!

Nicole - Thank you for all the wonderful and positive comments. The Peter Pan shadow i drew on charoal color paper and cut him out. Then we taped him on a background that we thought looked like Victorian syle wallpaper.

Melissa Chatten-Sopha - These are the most amazing child pictures I have ever seen. Such a great use of props and backgrounds. And they tell a story, which I love. You are truly talented. Now here’s my question, what will you do for a boy?? lol

Wendi - lol – thank you for the kind words! And excellent questions! Whatever his parents want. 🙂 It would be fun to do fairy tale princes and other stories based around little boys – Three Little Bigs, Jack & The Beanstalk, Aladdin – possibilities are endless!

Linda - Wow! These photos are incredible! I am amazed at the amount of detail you put in to each shot. I love each one. They are all so beautiful and what a gorgeous little girl. My favourites are Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella. Those cute knit mice are so cute. I love it all. Fantastic job!

Tammy Henshaw - Excellent photos! You did a wonderful job!

Christy Groover - Simply beautiful!! So well done!! How did you do the Little Red Riding Hood photo with the wolf? Did you just photoshop her in? Do you mind if I ask where the wolf image came from? My daughter will be LRRH for Halloween and I would love to do something like this! Thanks a bunch!

Wendi - Thank you for the kind words! The wolf is actually Chloe, a client’s dog. She has been in the studio previously and I knew she would do wonderful with Maddie. We were experiencing a snow storm that morning, and we took Chloe and Maddie out for the Red Riding Hood shot. They looked at each other for just a second before being distracted by the snow, and this was the result!

Mary Smith - Absolutely adorable! Does anyone know if there is a pattern for that blanket? It’s precious!

Simona - Absolutely awesome. I took some pics with props of my kids myself. Different themes though. Love going that extra mile. Beautiful work.

Kimberly Doerr - These images put a smile on my face every time I see them. Nicely done. <3
